GPA File Upload Behavior:

When a new GPA file is uploaded, we update the GPA records only for the active students included in that file.

Any active students who were present in previous uploads but are missing from the new file will have their GPA records archived. These students will then appear in the system as not having a GPA.

⚠️ Important:

Each upload is treated as the complete and current source of truth. If a student’s GPA is not included in the latest file, we will assume their GPA is no longer available and archive the existing record.

Note:

At this time, we do not support uploading only partial lists of students for incremental GPA updates. If a GPA file is uploaded, it must include all students who should retain a GPA record.

• If your district does not use either a weighted or an unweighted GPA, then the unneeded columns can be left blank (but the column headers should still be included).
• GPA denominator (weighted and unweighted) is a district setting. If the denominator values are provided in the file, they will override the District setting.
• We only allow one GPA record per GPA type (i.e., unweighted/weighted) per student in a single file.

Additional GPA types (optional):

SchooLinks stores each GPA as a typed record, so a district can send more than the weighted and unweighted GPAs. Some states run a guaranteed-admission program that keys off a GPA the district calculates specifically for that program; the same gpa.csv carries it as an extra numerator/denominator column pair. These columns are optional, they are ignored for districts outside the named state, and leaving them out changes nothing about the weighted and unweighted GPAs.

The GPA types below are supported today. Adding another is straightforward and can be done on request: for example, the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) core-competency GPA used for Arizona's assured-admission program. • California: numerator_a_g / denominator_a_g. The student's A-G GPA, the GPA over the UC/CSU "a-g" subject-requirement courses.
• Washington: numerator_cadr / denominator_cadr. The student's GPA as reported to the Washington Guaranteed Admissions Program (WAGAP). WAGAP guarantees admission to participating Washington public universities for students at partner high schools who earn a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and complete the College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs): 17 credits across six subject areas (English, math, science, social studies, world language, and arts) that Washington's public four-year universities require for admission. SchooLinks does not currently directly evaluate the CADR coursework itself; this column lets the Washington guaranteed-admission rule use the GPA your district has already certified for WAGAP. Until a Washington district sends this column, its students see "we can't tell yet" on WAGAP colleges rather than a verdict based on the unweighted GPA.
