State Identifiers can be added directly in your CSV by including the student_state_id column in your data file that matches our students schema:
State Identifiers can be added as Metadata fields in OneRoster schema. Once the State ID has been added and shared with SchooLinks, we will configure your nightly sync to bring in the identifier.
ClassLink has two “buckets” for student identifiers, Sourced ID and Identifier. Often, Sourced ID is generated or transformed based on an identifier received by ClassLink which will not always match character-for-character with your SIS. You can push the exact identifier value to ClassLink through the metadata field following these steps:
The Clever schema contains a field (state_id) that is available to populate for student-type records from data from your SIS. The integration between your SIS and Clever should be configured to populate the student’s state identifier into that state_id field in Clever. If there are questions about configuring this integration to include state identifiers, please reach out to Clever support for assistance in populating the field.
Once the field is populated, you then want ensure that the SSID field is being shared with SchooLinks.
Within Clever, search for and click on the SchooLinks app:

Click Settings

Review your Field Access list to ensure the SchooLinks app has access to the state_id field. If not, then click Advanced Settings to include state_id in the Field Access list.

If you are syncing with us through a Student Information System OneRoster API like Skyward Q, then you will want to ensure that your student’s state identifier is included in the list of userIds for each student record. In the screenshot below, this shows an example of data returned from the API with a State ID included. Every Student Information System might have a slightly different way for this to be configured. If and when you are unsure how to configure, please notify and request assistance from your SIS’s support team.
