Clever is a single sign-on portal that now "helps 60% of U.S. K–12 schools spend more time learning and less time logging in."
SchooLinks supports both rostering and SSO from Clever. The process is easy and we can have data synced the same-day access is shared with SchooLinks, which will provision accounts for SchooLinks access quickly.
What kind of data does SchooLinks pull from Clever? See our guide below to review the different data sets that are covered with our nightly sync with Clever:
Clever Data Sets That Can Be Synced
Connecting your Clever Roster to SchooLinks involves only a few steps:
Request a connection through Clever - Either SchooLinks or your Clever Admin can request a connection be made.
App URL: https://schools.clever.com/applications/add/schoolinks
Approve connection - The receiving party of the Clever invitation to connect just needs to accept the connection and the relevant data chosen to share by your district's Clever Admin will be made available.
Setup Sharing - Sharing should be setup following the instruction Clever provides in their documentation
Sync Away! That's all that's needed! After you've made the connection, we'll automatically sync information from your Clever Roster nightly. If you'd like updates that you made in Clever to propagate immediately for testing purposes, please contact your Implementation Manager.
With the connection made, we might need you to clarify the following items to ensure that we are syncing the right information for your district.
What staff should be synced? Clever has three tables: Teachers, School Staff, and District Staff. Often the staff users of SchooLinks exist on all three of these tables so it's important that the staff that need access to SchooLinks are shared.
What is the consistent identifier across Clever tables? If multiple tables as used as mentioned above, it is important to define a consistent identifier to connect the tables. Where the Teacher table uses sis_id
and teacher_number
, the School Staff table uses staff_id
. Even though staff_id
is not present on the Teacher table, districts almost always use a consistent identifier from their SIS to populate these tables. We need to know which identifier, sis_id
or teacher_number
, is being used to populate the staff_id
field.
Should section information be used in SchooLinks? In addition to defining the student-to-teacher relationship, many districts make use of the Sections to define counselors caseloads as well. If this is the case for you, we can use the sections in Clever to define sections (for teachers) and caseloads (for counselors) in SchooLinks.
How do I control which students a staff member can see?
The answers to these questions can be discussed with your Implementation Manager or Our Data Support team: [email protected] to ensure your Clever sync includes the correct information for your district.
